Mark J. Chandler, MBA, Managing Director

Mark is the founder of Upstream Partners and a recognized expert in commercializing intellectual property (IP) and technology, with an acute understanding of the concomitant financial, legal, technology and manufacturing requirements needed to fully capitalize on technology and IP based opportunities.

Mark's expertise in managing and monetizing IP comes from extensive portfolio experience in every aspect of commercialization, including IP licensing and sales, product and business creation, IP litigation and financing. His industry and market experience ranges from semiconductors and medical devices to oil exploration and financial institutions. He regularly works with attorneys, private equity groups, technology enablers, inventors and scientists to help bring new products and technology to market efficiently.

Mark has testified as a financial damages expert and as a licensing expert on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants for patent litigation and contract dispute matters in U.S. District Court and in state courts. Mark’s wide-ranging experience in licensing and investing, and negotiating from both sides of the table, is rare among testifying experts, many of whom have had careers in a single company or industry. His extensive experience in financial damages and licensing, which is also rare among testifying experts, and adds depth and credibility to his analysis and opinions.

Mark was previously a Managing Director with Invotex Group, a US-based firm specializing in IP and financial consulting services. Prior to Invotex, Mark led corporate venturing activities for BTG plc, a UK-based technology investment and development firm. In that capacity, he led his organization's corporate venture group with over $50 million of capital and over ten portfolio companies under management.

Mark completed his undergraduate studies in electrical engineering (BSEE, Bucknell University), and continued his technical education in physics while working at the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab. He practiced as a researcher building the world’s most accurate atomic clocks and implantable medical devices, and obtained his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

He holds the Certified Licensing Professional (CLP) accreditation from the Licensing Executives  Society and has been recognized for the past eight years by Intellectual Asset Management (IAM) in its peer-selected list of the Top 300 professionals worldwide in intellectual asset management strategy, the IAM Strategy 300.

Juhee Park, Financial Analyst

Juhee has ten years of experience providing financial and valuation analyses for intellectual property and financial consulting services.

Prior to Upstream, Juhee was a senior consultant with Invotex Group, where she performed financial valuation and analyses in insolvency and restructuring projects, as well as IP and business valuations. She was also involved in providing insurance regulatory and consulting services including financial data analysis for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the State Insurance Administration related to regulatory changes.

Over the years, Juhee has provided consulting services for start-ups overseas, including Thailand, Ethiopia, and Korea. Juhee holds a BA in International Studies and BS in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
